Emma Anna is an Australian-born visual artist, curator and creative writer who currently lives and works between the Colombian Caribbean and the East Coast of Australia.
A former journalist and commercial graphic designer, for the past 15 years Emma has carved out a successful international career as a public artist, producing large scale works for both public and private sector clients across Australia and New Zealand, Europe, The US and Colombia. She holds a Masters’ of Art (Art in Public Space) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
At the core of Emma´s diverse creative practice remains a commitment to the medium of collage, which provides the creative spark for all of her projects. Her work draws upon the influence of pop culture and personal narrative and combines this with her passion for esotericism, nature and its cycles, and her desire to capture stories and memories in tangible form. Intersecting the ‘old world’ of vintage ephemera with the ‘new world’ of digital communications technologies, Emma works to craft her own vision of a collage utopia, a place she refers to as ´The New Old World’ (aka The N.O.W). In 2020 Emma was celebrated as the World Collage Day feature artist, an opportunity that afforded her the chance to communicate her vision of 'Collage Magic' - a fusion of collage and the storytelling traditions of magic realism.
Emma´s work is held in numerous public and private collections internationally including the Randers Kunstmuseum, Denmark, The City of Aarhus, Denmark, The City of Santa Clarita (California), and the City of Port St Lucie (Florida).
