I was sure of what I wanted to spend my life doing since I was fourteen. I was always drawing and painting as a child and when I was fourteen my mother gave me a birthday present of a complete oil painting set. From then on all I wanted to do was paint. Eventually I studied art and design at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. and went on to teach art at Trumansburg Central School in Trumansburg, New York I live in Ithaca, NY which is situated in the Finger Lakes region and is noted for its beautiful scenery. In the beginning I painted these landscapes in an impressionistic mode. As I developed my own style my work became more and more abstract and I became interested in working with shapes. I am intrigued by the endless compositional structures and evocative arrangements of shapes that my creative imagination can produce.

I start out by applying paint to the canvas somtimes in a color I like or a shape or a drawing. From there on each color or shape I apply leads to another and eventually the paintings takes on a life of it's own. My paintings are not premeditated and are often goverened my chance. As the painting progresses the result may be totally abstract ot recognizable shapes might emerge.ition takes on a life of its own.
