Eugene Ch’ng was born in the island of Penang, Malaysia where he spent most of his childhood and teenage life exploring the island’s natural wonders. He has lived and worked in the United Kingdom for over 10 years and now resides in China. He is Professor of Cultural Computing at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences where he conducts research in digital culture and heritage. Eugene started painting at an early age, and also taught himself computer programming at the age of 10. He considered Art and Science to be complementary in the balance of life and work, and both are means to a fulfilling and satisfying life. He also teaches Aikido, a modern martial arts to students of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China. Eugene travels back to his hometown Penang annually and sketches and paints places which inspires him.
