Gillian's studio practice is very much driven by finding purpose in pre-existing materials. She sees design as a way to materialise her ideas with her own philosophy that focuses on observing, questioning and analysing the environment in which her materials exist, and are drawn from, thus carving out meaningful connections between her materials and the environment. Rigorous rounds of investigation and deliberation are vital in Gillian's approach to art-making, resulting in a diversity of process-based and documentative works.
