Harees Hashim

Harees Hashim is professionally an Art and Design Specialist with more than 15 years of industry experience. His inborn creative and artistic talent led him to be expertise in the field of visual design. He has served for various reputed organizations as a designer and faculty. He won many awards by participating in Art and Design competitions.

Initially, Harees was selected to follow his Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from the University of Kelaniya. Afterwards, he obtained his Bachelors of Arts degree from the Aquinas University in the subject stream of Mass Communication, Sociology and English Literature. Also, he has completed the Advanced Diploma in Visual Communication and Management conducted by the Sri Lanka Institute of Printing and University of Colombo being a gold medalist.

The beauty of nature was his passion to portray through watercolor giving glamorous experience to the spectator. Watercolor is his favorite medium just because of its smooth, dilute and transparent effect.

Apart from watercolor he is competent on other mediums such as Oil, Acrylic, pastel, charcoal etc. Most of the time the title of his paintings were landscape, figurative, still life and rough sketches included. Describing the beauty and calmness of nature, human moods and feeling in the context of their social background were subjected to his paintings. Exploring vividness in color to impress the liveliness of nature and its attributes was one of his concerns of depiction.

My perception on ART

I admire ART because not only it gives intellectual satisfaction but also it is a medicine to heal our agonies and ailments. It is a powerful media of expression. Today, apart from wealth we search consolation, peace of mind and freedom, which we can't attain for money. There are many ways that we can keep ourselves from physical and mental sufferings and Art is one of the ways, that inspires our mind and soul towards creativity, peace, and tranquility. It keeps us alive always.
