Harun is an Indonesian surrealist and contemporary artist . He is a free-thinking individualist and aver to challenge any form of establishment. The predominant theme of his works are centred around his dissent for indiscriminate and excessive consumption, societal pressures to conform, exploitation of the marginalised communities and human ostensibility to name a few.
He ponders on the shallowness and superficiality of humans in our perception of the world, ourselves and others. Paraphrasing Dalia Lama – “The lights are ON but there is nothing in the room”. In his latest series of paintings, the central subjects are human figures without a head or face that creates a sense of mystery; and yet with their unique gestures and poses he effectively illustrates complex emotions that depict satire and cynicism.

Harun has extensively exhibited his works in Singapore, Vietnam, Korea, China, Ireland, Hungary and North America.
