Jatinder Singh Durhailay (b. London 1988, United Kingdom) is a painter, musician and composer based in London. He received a Bachelor of the Arts from University Arts London in 2011, and has been active as a painter since. His practice explores themes and narratives of Sikh Indian history, culture and diaspora using a wide array of painterly mediums, from drawings on handmade paper, revisiting the Punjab Hill School, to elaborate and detailed oil paintings. Durhailay’s work has appeared in exhibitions including “ Warrior Saints“ (2013, National Army Museum - Chelsea, London, UK), “Gin and Juice” (2012, Gallery Ivory and Black - London, UK), and also sold at Scope Miami Art Basel in 2012. Some of the artist's paintings and drawings also appeared in “Empire, Faith and War” (Brunei Gallery, London UK 2014), “State of Origin” (Unit24 Gallery, London UK 2014) and "Inaka no Hana" (Nidi Gallery, Tokyo Japan 2017).

Jatinder is trained in the Indian classical singing art named Dhrupad, and plays rare string instruments known as the Dilruba and the Taus. He practiced under Hazuri Ragis in India, and Ustad Ranbir Singh in England. The artist's albums "Inaka no Hana" (2016), "The Last Ballad of Mardana" (2017) and "Tea Notes" (in collaboration with David Edren, 2018) were released with Poetic Pastel Press. Performances include MK Gallery (England, 2018), The National Gallery (England, 2017), Atelier Fluss (Japan, 2018), Het Bos (Belgium, 2018), Maus Habitos - Espaço de Intervenção Cultural (Portugal, 2017), VACANT (Japan, 2017), Galerie Jean-Francois Kaiser (France, 2016), London City Hall (England, 2016), Tate Modern the Tanks (England, 2012).

Jatinderʼs projects often combine sounds and visuals. He is a key actor in the cultural project Poetic Pastel.
