Joyce Le Mesurier
Hometown: Singapore
Based in: Singapore
Joyce originally trained and practised as a corporate lawyer for many years in Singapore, HK and London. Her love for travel and adventure was fuelled when she first travelled to different parts of Europe and America during university holidays and thereafter the wanderlust set in. In 2000, Joyce decided to take a break from being a senior legal counsel for an international MNC to raise her young family and since then, has explored her creative side by learning how to paint, taking up floral arranging, pottery and photography.
Joyce is passionate about travel and photography and has a great spirit of adventure, having travelled extensively to countries such as Iran, Myanmar, Bhutan, India, Japan, Nepal, China, Turkey, the Omo Valley in Ethiopia, and chasing the Northern Lights in Norway and the Swedish Lapland. Joyce especially loves learning about other cultures and sharing her experiences through her photography. Joyce has also shot extensively in Singapore and her Singapore series of images are often sought after as gifts.
Joyce has been commissioned by a boutique hotel in Singapore and by private individuals to produce a series of photographs for their homes and walls. In April 2014, Joyce was the first runner-up in the Singapore National Awards category of the prestigious annual Sony World Photography Organisation photo competition and was shortlisted in their Arts and Culture category. Several of Joyce’s photos have been shortlisted in other photography competitions organised by Lens Culture, the Smithsonian Magazine and National Geographic.
