Artist Name

Laura Scheringa

Born: 1986

Hometown: Amsterdam

Based in: Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Graduated in 2008 from the Art Academy in Maastricht and in 2011 from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, department Fine Arts. Since then I've been inspired by landscapes: I create various series of landscapes, each exploring different themes and structures. My rock formations are inspired by the layered patterns and shifting lines found in desert and coastal landscapes, shaped by sedimentation, gravity, and changing perspectives. These works capture the natural forces that carve and shape the land over time.

In contrast, my Pasty’s or Bulky’s are highly three-dimensional, consisting of abstract shapes that are stacked or placed side by side. They explore the interplay of form, texture, and color—a continuous search for stone-like structures and surfaces, where the organic meets the bold intensity of vibrant, sometimes neon colors.

I also create custom pieces, always working on natural linen and ensuring that every artwork is framed or presented in a way that makes it ready to be displayed.

Laura Scheringa In The Studio

From OODE gallery: Laura Scheringa // Her work is about landscapes. Rock Formations are like a representation of time: layers of history that become visable. A timelapse of earth. In her latest collection Pasty Purple the texturs and colours are more close up. Typical in this collection is the use of neon as a background.
