Liliya Pobornikova was 1979 in Bulgaria. Currently living and working in Spain.

Italy, Israel, Japan, Luxembourg, Lithuania, Latvia, Mexico, Norway, Paraguay,
Portugal, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey, Taiwan, Thailand,
USA, Vietnam. Works with different materials, including: stone, wood, metal, wax, concrete,
bronze, ceramics, ice, snow - also in land art. Her sculptures are represented in museums
in Taiwan, Denmark, Egypt and Brazil.
She received awards for her photographic work by "Highlights Magazine" and
"National Geographic Magazine", as well as various symposiums and competitions prizes.
I work with different materials and often traveling to make large scale sculptures for public parks or private collections in other countries. This makes me use different tools and equipment depending on the project and the task.
What inspires you?
I would categorize my art /mostly sculpture/ as a contemporary and abstract. I am inspired by the beauties of the every living form, the softness of the shapes, contrasting with straight lines and angles.
Describe your creative process.
First I start with an idea (drawing) and continue with a small scale model. After usually the model is transformed to a large scale sculpture.

Who are some artists that have influenced your work?
Making my sculptures, I am mostly influenced by the photographer Karl Blossfeldt.
What is the most important tool when creating your work?
Usually a small grinder.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
I learned mostly from my own experience and mistakes.
Where do you go for inspiration?
To the sea.
