Lim Wan Ying

Born in Singapore, Wan Ying started taking painting classes in watercolor and oil pastel at the age of 10, with the encouragement of her grandparents. She was introduced to the world of Chinese painting when she enrolled in Diploma of Fine Art in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 2005. She is most comfortable with traditional Chinese ink, often mixing it with modern acrylic medium. She uses the mixed media process as an exploration to discuss issues she sees in modern societies. "O$P$", an art piece on social isolation caused by illegal money lending activities, earned her an emerging artist gold award in UOB Painting of the Year 2013.
