Mami Kato

Born in Akita, Japan, Kato studied oil painting, sculpture & installation in colleges in both Japan & the US. She settled in Philadelphia, USA in 1992, and has been living & working there since.

Her work reflects her search to connect with something beyond human cognition through her objects; her exploration of her relationship to the material often supports that search and helps materialize the work.

She has been showing her work in a number of group and solo shows through galleries & public venues in the US & Japan.
