Mimi Hi is a contemporary artist living and working in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation. From a young age, drawing was a way for Mimi to communicate with the outside world without leaving the room. Left face to face with the painting, she was never alone. The emotional upsurge she experienced was comparable to an evening spent with a large group of friends or a trip to a place full of exciting discoveries. ''Drawing ability is the biggest and best part of me. Art is the power that helps me dream and never give up,'' she admits.
Therefore, all her life, Mimi preferred drawing to all other pursuits. In 2009 she graduated from the Academy of Arts with a degree in architecture. The knowledge gained helped broaden her horizons. As an architect, Mimi had been privileged to attend archaeological expeditions by the Hermitage museum. Mimi worked for several years in architectural workshops, including the chief architect of the project. Although this work brought her financial stability, she always knew that she was, is, and always will be an artist. So, since 2013, she has become a full-time artist. As the artist explains, "It was not easy to make a choice and start life from scratch, but this is how impressive paintings are creating."

What inspires you?
When I wake up in the morning, I feel I can change something for the better today. And I start to paint.
Describe your creative process.
I begin my work by intuitively placing broad strokes of paint on the canvas, in the outlines of which I then guess some future characters in my painting. In this way, I can create a realistic image, but in recent years I have stopped at barely guessed images, which, in my opinion, have even greater power of expressiveness.
Who are some artists that have influenced your work?
The formation of my creative vision was influenced not only by the museum collections of paintings, but also by the creations of Disney and Miyazaki. The style of my paintings originates in the works of Murakami, Kooning and Kandinsky.
