Barhumi is a benchmark of contemporary South American painting and one of the most recognized painters in Peru. Born in Peru (Lima 1960), to a Syrian mother and a Lebanese father, he grew up in Lima to later study part of his career between Spain and the United Kingdom. He studied plastic arts at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, the Complutense University of Madrid, the Escola Massana in Barcelona and the Byam Shaw School of Art in London, where he obtained the title of University of the Arts. He has presented individual exhibitions and group shows over the last thirty years in Lima, Barcelona, London, Cologne, New York, Miami, and Madrid, and his works are included in several collections around the world.

Currently based in Madrid, his recent works incorporate streets, sights, monuments and "sounds" of this city that day by day insatiably stimulates the inspiration of the artist.
