Press reviews: “Czech artist Nata Zaikina’s paintings are inspired by her 70s - 80s childhood. Nata is especially interested in capturing her figures in movement, particularly while jumping. “
What inspires you?
My favourite series are children's games. This is something that can unite people of the same generation, even if they have grown up in different countries. Emotions related to childhood are the brightest.
Describe your creative process.
I try to show the hidden dynamics inside the static figure. Sculptural aspect is very obvious in my paintings: dynamic outline contrast and composition. I hardly paint any details so that i can focus on light and colour.
What are 3 words that best describe your work?
memory childhood happiness
What is the most important tool when creating your work?
I prefer to work with oil paints and watercolours.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
Draw only what you lived.
Where do you go for inspiration?
The themes for my stories I find all around me: for example, in the street or on the subway.
