I like to understand art as a pre-verbal communication that connects us through times and generations. Sometimes I paint on unusual random media, other times I do on traditional ones. My artistic practice combines old traditional symbols and techniques with new contemporary approaches.
What inspires you?
My sources of inspiration are diverse but somehow it´s always related to my biographical story or some art history quotes. My artworks are related to the ephemerality of human life and the changing nature of value.
Describe your creative process.
My creative process sometimes starts in old forgotten sketches and other times I just let myself go and discover what the piece will ask from me. The final result is always unexpected.
What are 3 words that best describe your work?
Human-Colour-Melancholy
Who are some artists that have influenced your work?
There are so many artists I admire, but just to name some: Quentin Massys, Clara Peeters, Caravaggio, Gianbattista Piranesi, Caspar David Friedrich, Paul Gaugain, Odilon Redon, Nicole Eisenman, Zhang Xiaogang, Ronald B. Kitaj, Sarah Lucas, and so many others.
What is the most important tool when creating your work?
I usually use fine brushes but what I like most is touch and control the painting with my hands.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
The best piece of advice that I ever received was the one that gave my beloved teacher Eugen Mamot when I was in my early teenhood: ¨Natasha, please study whatever profession except for art!¨ Of course, I neglected his advice but I usually remember it when I have to front difficulties being an artist.
Where do you go for inspiration?
I don´t go for inspiration. Inspiration comes where I go. (Applause, please! :D ) Now, seriously: the inspiration comes working. I don´t think it´s necessary go somewhere.
