Nina Piatrouskaya

Hometown: Minsk

Based in: Dresden

I was born and raised in Minsk (Belarus), currently based in Dresden (Germany). Art was a hobby and passion since childhood, but professional life followed a completely different path. I've studied Chemistry at Belarusian State University and graduated with a master’s degree. Beginning in 2010 I've studied in the Art Studio in Minsk supervised by Rishard May. The unique feature of this studio is that its students study and develop their style and techniques in the atmosphere of absolute creative freedom. Artists do not learn common skills, but rediscover them through solving creative tasks using their own bright color palletes. In my artworks I aim at using pure colors to relay the brightest impressions through creating color transitions with fine lines and geometric forms. Regardless of the seeming simplicity, each painting poses a creative and tedious challenge with minute details and thorough work, every painting takes several weeks or months to finish but in return transforms into a meditative outlet for me. Through the combination of colors and shapes I strive to elicit a strong emotional response in the viewer while simultaneously providing them with the relaxing feeling of calmness. Some of my works are inspired by chemical reactions and physical processes. Through simple geometric forms i try to show the depth and curiosity of nature of things. My first artworks were created commonly with gouache, while it gives good decorative effect (pure matte colors). Nowadays i work mostly with oil, that helps to create smooth transitions. Size of artworks can be absolutely different and depends on the final aim for each picture.
