Nobuto Fukutsu is a Tokyo-based artist, born in 1969 in Miyagi, Japan. He has exhibited extensively throughout Japan, as well as in Sri Lanka and China. Fukutsu’s technique of creating figurative images through the precise application of abstract forms or patterns provides an added depth and vibrancy to his works. The blend of figurative images and abstract patterns creates a sense of movement, drawing the viewer in towards the painted surface, while also injecting a bold, graphic element to the works. He was one of the final eight artists in the 10th Kajima Sculpture Competition in 2008 and was the Grand Prize Winner of Absolute Art in 1994.
