I'm Noelia, I have lived for more than 20 years in Alicante, Spain and I have a degree in Fine Arts. My mixed media abstract painting works allow me to express myself naturally, making use of technical aspects such as lights, shadows, transparencies, textures, color and balance. I seek to capture on canvas a unique interpretation full of sensitivity and emotion.
I studied my artistic career focused on teaching in Argentina, in the city of Mar del Plata. Since then, I have been constantly evolving and each work has been and is an opportunity to learn something new and grow.
In nature and being able to live next to the Mediterranean Sea, I find my color palette, like the blues, turquoises and greens that the sea gives us or that warm touch of a sunset. I seek to transfer or hint at those moments and emotions to the blank canvases that layer after layer transform and leave traces of new textures that end up giving shape to my work.
I look for balance and harmony in every job. I find the horizon lines interesting, which tend to be unclear, somewhat blurred and transparent.
I prefer to use acrylics, since my painterly gesture is energetic, and that way I can move faster without having to wait for it to dry before applying new layers. I use different tools, such as brushes, spatulas, sponges and any other materials to create unique visual textures in my works.
The collage technique is also a great ally for me. I enjoy searching and finding the right place for each material, such as threads, fabrics, different types of paper, bamboo canes, etc.
When I paint, I feel like I am in a continuous dialogue with the canvas, discovering new forms of expression together. I like to think that I am constantly exploring, discovering new paths with each brushstroke.

More About Noelia Correa
What inspires you?
The Mediterranean Sea, its colors (blues, turquoises, greens), and sunsets. Nature’s balance and harmony deeply influence my abstract works, evoking emotions and moments I translate onto canvas.
Describe your creative process.
I start with a blank canvas, layering acrylics using brushes, spatulas, and sponges. I blend lights, shadows, and textures, inspired by nature. Each layer adds depth, creating unique visual textures. I seek balance and harmony, often incorporating collage elements like threads or paper. The process is energetic and intuitive, evolving as I dialogue with the canvas.
What are 3 words that best describe your work?
Emotional, textured, harmonious.
Who are some artists that have influenced your work?
Joan Miró for his abstract freedom, Mark Rothko for his emotional use of color, and Antoni Tàpies for his textured, mixed-media approach. Their exploration of form, color, and texture resonates with my style.
What is the most important tool when creating your work?
Acrylics—they allow quick, energetic layering.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
"The best advice I’ve received is simple: 'Don’t fear imperfection—it’s where uniqueness lies.' This taught me to embrace spontaneity and trust my creative intuition."
Where do you go for inspiration?
The Mediterranean coast, where the sea’s colors and sunsets provide endless inspiration. I also find creativity in nature walks, observing textures, light, and balance. Museums and galleries fuel my passion, connecting me with other artists’ perspectives.
