Born in 1972, Thai artist Prakornpatara Janthakhaisorn currently works in Chiang Mai where he also teaches print making as the Assistant Professor at the Department of Visual Arts within Chiang Mai University. He is the recipient of many local art awards including the 2nd Panasonic Contemporary Painting Exhibition, Bangkok and has had a number of solo exhibitions. Moreover, Prakornpatara has an M.F.A. in Graphic Art from Silpakorn University, Bangkok. Stemming from his personal belief that Mankind possesses the innate desire to continue the human race therby expressing it through love and yearning for the opposite gender, Prakornpatara attempts to portray this human emotion in his painting. He captures it as vigorous brightness in bloom, utilising soft colours and organic forms in a bid to concretize his vision. Intangible affect is hence given a palpable form in Prakornpatara's romantic portrayal of intrinsic nature that governs people of all ages and eras, an absolute emotional and human necessity that has created endless beauty and imagination.
