Sandra Chung's work is inspired by dance movement and rhythm, body is a reflection to the process. Chung uses basic techniques to create an abstract form, almost like a random object creation based on my body movement. The object is a reflection on expression. Chung is not producing a form, but producing a repetition process. She wanted to experiment with paper, yarn and wire through her hand.
Chung's work traces the pirouette movement (the act of spinning on one's foot) in ballet, reflecting the physical space between form and position. While an exploration of the use of space reflects the application of concentration and balance, the relationship between time and movement is a sensation of a subjective conscious experience of a repetition form.
The work is a process of robotic repetition movement. It is associated with her personality, disposition, motivation and expression. It is a physical sensation of feeling and a conscious subjective experience of emotion that interacting with the external influences and emotional expression.
Chung wants to improve both mental and physical well being through studying this repetitive movement. Chung communicates between body (internal) and space (external). The movement reflects personality, which contains a symbolic function she sees as evidence of the unconscious process and the need to experiment with new ways of being.
