Sandrine Llouquet
Born: 1975
Hometown: Ho Chi Minh City
Based in: Ho Chi Minh City
Sandrine Llouquet creates modest, delicate drawings and site-specific installations that juxtapose playfulness with the more visceral and violent. Her work is intensely personal and draws on imagery she is surrounded by: herself, her family, the mass media and the Southeast Asian narrative.
Her practice encompasses drawing, site-specific installation, animation, illustration and VJ-ing. She has worked with artists’ collective, Mogas Station and set up artists’ events forum, Atelier Wonderful. Wonderful have been involved in installation projects all over the world, creating a series of installations entitled Alice In.....Miami, Saigon and Paris. The Alice In series involved a nomadic architectural structure which played host to installation, video and sound performances.
Llouquet's participation in group shows has seen her work travel to France, Seoul, USA, China, Singapore and Austria. As part of Mogas Station she has participated in the Shenzhen Biennale, Singapore Biennale, Venice Biennale (Collateral event).
Llouquet's dedication and boundless energy is translated into captivating works on paper, plexiglass and in the form of interactive installations. A mix of delicate transcience and strong determination permeates her work. Perhaps like the artist herself? The transcient quality leaves us with a feeling that the thoughts, concepts and imagery she has captured are elusive and that we must exercise our minds and imaginations to fill in the gaps.
We don't have any works from this artist at the moment.
