What inspires you?
I'm inspired by the contrast between order and chaos, and the illusion of control. My work is primarily focused on those concepts. Structure contains so much internal disorder that is not inherently visible without examination, and is so much more fragile than it appears.
Describe your creative process.
Lightbulb, sketch, paint. In that order!
What are 3 words that best describe your work?
Modern minimalist musings.
Who are some artists that have influenced your work?
I'm inspired by so many different artists, but Piet Mondrian, Agnes Martin, Donald Judd, Ellsworth Kelly, Sean Scully and Yves Klein influence my thought process heavily.
What is the most important tool when creating your work?
My brain, and resilience.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
Record and photograph everything! Through rough sketches on napkins if there is nothing else to hand, polaroids or just a phone camera.
Where do you go for inspiration?
I gain a huge amount of inspiration from reading, observation, philosophy, and music.
