Shaya Shahrestani was born in 1972 in Tehran, Iran. She received a Diploma of Painting from the School of Fine Arts, Tehran in 1990, and a B.A. in Painting from Azad University, Tehran in 1995.

Shahrestani had a solo exhibition of her sculptures in 2014 at Aun Gallery, Tehran, and a painting solo show at Shabda Gallery in 2003. She has participated in a number of group exhibitions throughout Iran and in Tbilisi, Georgia.
