Sinyee Tan is an Artist and Illustrator based in Singapore. She graduated with a BA(Hons) in Communication Design with the Glasgow School of Art. Her subject of inquiry primarily focuses on our relational modes with animals, raising questions on our interconnected relationship with nature where she touches on the prevalent issues that contributes to the rapid extinction of wildlife animals and environmental decay. In her latest body of work, her paintings and art installation borrowed mundane objects of consumer culture to hint subtly at the folly of the human condition. She is fascinated by the use of expressive brush strokes built up with the melding of bold colours as a visual language. Inspired by ‘Fauvism’, a style that flourished at the turn of the 20th Century, she uses bright and brilliant colours as a mean of communication and to project her observations and response towards her subject matters.
