Hong Kong artist Spime specializes in creating cryptic and surreal scenes that toy with conventional structures of space and time. Inspired by her childhood memories and lived experiences, her practice centers on the ever-fluid boundaries between cultures. Her works closely examine how cultural adaptation allows individuals to alternate their identities across semantic contexts and form new emotional links with the new group to broaden their self-definition. In her recent series ‘Portals’, she explores how understanding this dynamic brings a new perspective to debates on the value of diversity.
