Sreya Gupta is an Indian Contemporary Artist, and professional Jewellery Designer. The three things which define her style are – a bright colour palette, a detailed subject and a botanical background. Each composition is a tribute to the nature- a never ending source for inspiration. She believes in versatility and likes to explore different mediums and styles. Some of her favourite subject includes Landscapes, birds and butterflies. Bird conservation is the prime purpose of her works which exhibit intense colour, texture and beauty revealing some very unique bird species which are precisely portrayed with lush green foliages and flowers. The botanical background of each work is meticulously created to complement the subject.
Art is my companion.Anywhere and everywhere art is there who truly values it. It is that feeling which keeps us alive and optimistic
What inspires you?
Nature.
Describe your creative process.
Every composition goes through a detailed study of birds and their habitat followed by small layouts in a pencil sketch which is then transformed on to canvas. I like to work on the background first in light layers and textures as it gives a clearer vision of the entire composition. Lastly i work on the subject carefully adding details .I work mostly in acrylic paints.
What are 3 words that best describe your work?
Striking, lively and connecting.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
The best piece of advice I gathered from my own experience is criticism is a part of creativity . We cannot give up on ourselves depending on approvals and the best ideas comes after the worst phase.
