Steve Gallagher graduated in Visual Design from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the USA, and was a fashion photographer for over 10 years before developing a graphic design practice in the US and the UK. He and his family moved to Worthing in 2019, and he returned to his first love of photography during the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, capturing images from East Worthing beach and his own garden.
What inspires you?
Nature and the natural world around me. I'm fortunate to have a lot of it around me.

Irving Penn, Turner, Karl Blossfeldt, Harold Feinstein, David Magee
What is the most important tool when creating your work?
My brain, eyes and life experiences.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
Slow down and enjoy it. You're doing what you are passionate about and love to do.
Where do you go for inspiration?
I'm fortunate to live close to the both the sea and the South Downs in the United Kingdom. I also retreat into my studio and just play around with compositions and lighting.
