Tulip Duong

Born: 1959

Hometown: Hanoi

Based in: Vietnam

Tulip Duong (aka Duong Thuy Lieu) produces work exploring a range of self-expression through bold brushwork with intensely vivid colours. As a Vietnamese artist, she uses Hanoi’s landscapes of urban and rural spaces for her art , aiming to identify a new type of Vietnamese ethnic form. In her attempt to encapsulate her artistic experience with reference to self-expression, she depicts it as one that evolves with the international style. This represents the traditional characteristic of the Vietnamese people who have displayed high levels of resilience and an ability to adapt to the cultural transition in Vietnam.
