Depicts Ukrainian landscapes. Works plein air in the picturesque corners of the Kyiv, Chernihiv and Carpathians regions.
In his work, Victor Onyshchenko combines traditions of classical school, coming from Russian Wanderers, with the techniques
of the Impressionists.
Most of my paintings are painted outdoors (en plein air).
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the diversity, unity of parts and the quirkiness of nature.
Describe your creative process.
My work process is like improvisation. Changeable states of nature play along with me and help me to achieve something new and unexpected every time.
What are 3 words that best describe your work?
liveliness, color, integrity.
Who are some artists that have influenced your work?
Camille Pissarro, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Alexander Murashko, Konstantin Korovin.
What is the most important tool when creating your work?
I work with a variety of brushes and a palette knife, but the main tool is enthusiasm.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
The nature in the work does not need to be copied. It is important to create an artistic image of the depicted on the canvas.
Where do you go for inspiration?
It is enough to take a plein air easel and go outside. The world around will tell the story and inspire with its variety of forms.
