The reason why I created these subjects was to humanize fictional characters into a new type of aesthetics. We never think of cartoon characters in the flesh, so I liked the idea of showing the inner part of their body to show them in a real-world fashion. I also wanted to turn something intended for children into an adult aesthetic. In gold, because they are part of our childhood and imaginary, they are like friends, so they are of great value to us. This is a totally new technique which combines hand made cotton paper embossing and gold lamina.
