Artist statement
One of the most fascinating stories of ancient Greek mythology is the story of the Argonauts and the Quest for the Golden Fleece. This myth gave the idea for this artwork.
The composition of this painting is based on the contrast of color and texture. The background of the work is made using dark red-brown color and has a matte texture, while the «fleece» is made with different shades of gold and has a glossy finish. Depending on the direction of the light gold changes its hue, so this painting will give a completely different feeling in various lighting conditions. The sides of the canvas are part of the composition, so the painting is ready to hang without an additional frame. The canvas is signed on the back.
