About the art
Artist statement
Its origins are a mystery, but its present speaks of acceptance and inclusion between two opposing worlds but with hidden affinities.
The perfection of nature instinctively intuited the noble genuineness of the material of which
the mysterious object is composed and, attracted by the beauty of its forms, united with it,
including it in its system, thus making it become an integral part of a wild territory and unknown, totally different from the one in which a vessel should be found.
The meaning relevant to the theme of this competition and, at the same time, what I would like to express by presenting Benthos, is the winning result generated by the union of two different realities: a ceramic vase is accepted by nature due to its totally natural composition, includes it in its territory, and both subjects undergo, from this meeting, a positive aesthetic transformation and a coexistence that does not harm either of them.
