Artist statement
Fiji Delight is part of a series made while travelling through Fiji in search of details from my family history. I was researching a story about colonialism, murder and cannibalism, but despite the dark details of the story, I was surrounded by large smiles, stunning colour and scenery and a sense of great calm and peace. The blooms that surrounded me captured my attention and these bright colours in nature helped offer a different perspective to the human history of conflict, misunderstanding and tragedy.
