Artist statement
Fiji's incredible colours captivated me in 2018 when I visited to follow my ancestry. Although none of my ancestors are Fijian, the connection was strong and my ancestor was in fact murdered and cannibalised there. The country and the people are full of life and colour and vitality. The story I was following alongside the beauty and peace that was offered to me everywhere, created a strong and intriguing contrast. The botanical life was stunning and here is another example from the series I created there.
