Artist statement
This piece is part of a series called Raving Beauty. It was exhibited in Australia in 2017 as part of an exhibition titled Nature's Abstract.
Australian natives are some of my favourite flora. They are vibrant and striking and essentially hearty due to the conditions they thrive in. To me, they are a reminder of finding our own strengths, despite what might seem like unfortunate circumstances. To allow our own unique and bold parts to shine as humans, who are all surviving in different conditions. The flowering gum bursts with colour and vitality and reminds me to step forward and be myself.
