Artist statement
My dear friend and fellow artist - and a huge fan of myself and all my artistic endeavours - Karolina Artist, had quite the stunning garden. It was an oasis of all her creativity and love. I photographed it a couple of years ago and she died of cancer the following year. While I was taking the photos, words came to mind and I wrote her a poem that goes with these images.
In the last few days of her life she tearily asked that the poem I had written her, be read as her ashes were spread, as it showed how much I really SAW and knew her. What an honour.
Rather than keep these painful and private memories, I think it best to share, for Karolina represents the completeness of being human and being an artist and that every part of you is involved and inseparable.
In honour of Karolina. X
