Artist statement
One thing I love about the Central Australian outback is its intensity. Intense dry, intense wet, intense heat, intense colours and intense beauty. During my recent visit I was drawn to the carpet of yellow grasses and ground coverage. Looking closer it made me realise how much of a symbol of abundance this was. That these grasses were thriving in an environment that is often described as harsh, brutal even. They utilise what is on offer here and find a way to make the most of that. They flourish. This series reminds me to flourish, to find a way to blossom even in harsh environments.
