Artist statement
“You look like a guy with that back” is the phrase that motivated me to make this painting. I chose an athlete swimming butterfly, a difficult style but whose name evokes subtlety and fragility. The position and framing of the human figure are on purpose. The color palette denounces the girl-pink / boy-blue stereotype.
