About the art
Artist statement
This beautifully vibrant floral abstract piece has been influenced by mood rather than imagery. Like all of my work it grew out of a process, where I am largely guided by the emerging painting. My starting point and guiding principle is colour. In this piece I worked with beautiful hues of blue, pink, purple and green.
The painting has been built over many layers of paint. I enjoyed bold, loose brush strokes and more detailed mark making in this piece. I mixed my own paint using artist pigments. Fine pencil lines add movement to the work. Finely dyed china paper has been built up over layers adding depth to the painting.
The canvas has been painted around the edges in a complementary colour. Hooks and cord are attached at the back – the painting is ready for hanging.
The painting comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
A light satin varnish has been applied to protect it against sunlight, dust and other environmental factors.
