Midsummer Night's Dreaming

This beautiful, soft and calm abstract floral painting grew out of a slow process; it was built over many layers of paint creating a beautiful deep texture. The starting point for this piece has been the colour scheme of fresh and lush greens, soft grey blue and touches of pink and purple. It evokes the image of summer flowers on a green lawn. The freshness of the painting attempts to capture the mood of summer; the painting has an airy and light feel to it.

I enjoyed bold brush strokes, palette knife work and more detailed mark making in this piece. I integrated light collage elements of tissue paper dyed in ink to add further depth to the painting. I always mix my own paint, using quality pigments, with many different hues of whites, greens, pinks, blue grey.

The large canvas has deep edges that have been painted in a complementary colour. Hooks and cord are attached at the back – the painting is ready for hanging.

The painting comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
