These small ink sketches are sparkles of inspiration. In my daily life, whenever I see good scenery or read something intriguing, I will pick up my paint brush and casually draw some lines. Then after a while, unexpectedly, I might find two or three or four…of the small ink sketches more interesting if put together, and this is how I created my diptychs, triptychs, and quadriptychs. I like this series, for the combinations of these sketches create beautiful rhythms that we often find in a suite. Just like a great work of music is made up of different movements, once the paintings are put together, they are inseparable.
