Artist statement
The work is done in the technique of hot batik. I drew a grenade. This work will be perfect in the interior of the kitchen. Materials: silk, acrylic batik paints. There is a frame.
Framed: 56x56cm

Batik - hand-painted on fabric using reserving compounds. October 2, 2009 included in the UNESCO list of masterpieces of the oral and spiritual heritage of mankind [1].
The fabric - silk, cotton, wool, synthetics - is painted with the appropriate fabric paint. To obtain clear boundaries at the junction of paints, a special fixer is used, called a reserve (a reserve composition, based on paraffin, gasoline, water-based - depending on the chosen technique, fabric and paints).
The painting "batik" has long been known among the peoples of Indonesia [2], India, etc. In Europe - since the XX century.
Hot batik
Wax is used as a reserve in hot batik. Wax is applied with a special tool called chanting [4]. Places covered with wax do not absorb the paint, and also limit its spread. Hot batik is called hot because wax is used in "hot" molten form.
1. A heavy copper stencil is placed on the fabric spread out on a table with an elastic rubberized surface, which covers those parts of the fabric that will be dyed at this stage and leaves open those places that are not subject to dyeing. Preliminarily, an ornament can be applied to the fabric by hand, which will become part of the final image, or a marking to facilitate the positioning of the stencils.
2. Melted wax is poured into the stencil, which impregnates exposed parts of the fabric, making them insensitive to dye.
3. When the wax hardens, the fabric is immersed in the dye, as a result of which the parts of the fabric not impregnated with wax are dyed.
4. Next, the fabric is released from the wax, partly cutting it with a special knife, partly by boiling the fabric in hot water.
5. The same process is repeated to dye the fabric with other colors
