About the art
Artist statement
This work belongs to the beginning of the Black and White series. It is inspired by a still life with two apples, a bottle and a large cup on a table, gestural strokes in black with different shades. I wanted to do something where the main or only color was black and then I integrated the very diluted white in casein glue to soften the lights and I did the same with the black mixed with white zinc pigment to create the shadows. I liked the effect of using the canvas as if it were a very free and minimalist sketchbook, capturing the essence of the objects.
It is made with pigments, casein glue and acrylic on cotton canvas.
The work has a black metal frame with a 2 cm edge, which can be easily removable.
