About the art
Artist statement
This work belongs to my "Black and White" series. It tries to confront opposite poles, the stable and the moved, the void and the full space, the black and the white, the line and the form, the static and the dynamic. It is an introspective work that contrasts my emotional side and my rational side. I wanted to explore the feeling of the dynamic vibration and movement of the curved line with the solidity of the dark shape, but which is suspended. Then the thick, broken black line composes and frames the central figures and the white space on the edge propels the moving curved lines to escape from the painting. When I did this work I was re-reading the TAO of Lao-Tzu book and its reading influenced the visual treatment of the work.
The painting is delivered rolled in a tube. It is a minimalist work of lyrical abstraction.
