Artist statement
When I read Gaston Bachelard's book "El Aire y los Sueños" (Air and Dreams), there are certain images that come to mind and what I wanted was to give them visibility with painting. It gave me the vision of a flight, what the imagination takes you to, that you go up to the sky, that you fly and that you are not with your feet on the ground. All this has an abstract image, but it is an image because thought is also abstract.
I am trying to get out these images that come to mind when I read the book and I am experimenting with techniques to see which one best fits my idea and that has led me to do a lot of works. I am still looking and trying with different materials and strokes; and it is being very interesting for me, because it is a different way of painting something that I am doing new.
I am doing this new series called "Vuelo Onírico" (Dream Flight) that gives me the freedom of movement and flight expressed on the canvas.
I use black as an axis, because it is the set of all the colours and it is the most powerful thing there is. I am now investigating different ways of approaching the same subject with the idea of reaching a satisfactory plastic ending. The game with priming the canvas in several layers, adding colour between them, building a colour and a line on top and painting white again, giving layers of glazes and then recovering the layers, is allowing me to give a plastic game that is not as forceful as before.
