Artist statement
ABOUT ORGANIC WREATHS COLLECTION
Inspired by organic cells, celestial structures, coral reefs and woodland, the artist uses ink and collage techniques to imitate and amplify nature. The aim is to create visual elements that have a natural aesthetic and quality. Due to the characteristics of materials used, the process of making is very fluid and alive; the resulting elements are partly calculation and partly chance. Just like in nature, every element is unique and cannot be repeated.
Cutouts, made alongside the ink elements, both echo and contrast them. The resulting effect highlights disparity between having and loosing.
ABOUT THIS ARTWORK
This artwork features Augmented Reality which can be experienced when the artwork is viewed via Artivive App installed on a smartphone or tablet. The AR features an abstract animation and sound of the blue whale heartbeat. The largest animal on the planet is endangered, but its numbers are currently on the rise. This work is designed to bring encouragement and hope.
