Artist statement
"Shiro lll" is crafted from a stoneware porcelain mix. Though she appears sleek, she holds hidden surprises and imperfections. During firing, a mysterious crack formed on her lip, which I have left and simply filled with grey. Within her she cradles clay crumbles, as though she is protecting the secrets of her creation. To me, these ‘imperfections’ add character, voice, and a unique beauty that is entirely her own.
