Artist statement
Vedutism is a pictorial genre born in the eighteenth century that represents landscapes or cities from life with the aim of reproducing environments with great fidelity, also using optical cameras for this purpose. Canaletto is the most well-known representative: his magnificent views of Venice have become both a stereotype and a symbol of this artistic current.
This body of works starts with the meaning attributed to this term in the history of art.
The "Views".
The disappearance of the subject, however, determines a rational short circuit that manifests itself in an image that recalls the Horizon of Events rather than an urban landscape. Light appears on the edge of a chromatic abyss. The space determined by color manifests itself through the idea of depth. Perspective backgrounds that lead to a direct and immersive perception of the picture.
Just light and just shadow.
