About the art
Artist statement
The Frog Housemaid, embodiment of servitude in the story, stands in a challenging and defiant attitude. In her right hand, she elegantly holds a martini glass, a symbol of sophistication and rebellion. The Frog not only rejects her imposed destiny but also adopts an air of distinction in her act of defiance.
In her left hand, the Frog holds a cracked egg with a caricature of the Red Queen, suggesting the breaking of chains imposed by the oppressive monarchy. The image of the Queen, instead of instilling fear, appears shattered and fragile, revealing the vulnerability behind her facade of authority.
This image invites us to reflect on rebellion as an act of personal affirmation in a world that imposes predefined roles and expectations. The Frog, by defying her fate as a mere servant, stands as a symbol of resistance and courage.
